After Simon Cowell returned to his role on the plan after an accident the previous year,[1] the Judges Cuts circular was replaced past him with a new deliberation format arrangement similar to that used in Uk's Got Talent.[2]

The Judge Cuts round, which had been significantly modified in the previous season due to the disruption of production,[two] was replaced by the deliberation format used past Great britain's Got Talent – whereby the judges would confer later on the conclusion of auditions, and make up one's mind which acts would keep to the live rounds.[xi] Some deliberations were filmed and used to fill in the remaining portions of the concluding audition episode for the season, every bit was done for the British edition.[12]
During auditions, the judges and host agreed to grant a group Gilt Buzzer for the first fourth dimension in the plan'southward history.[3] Although this would have meant half-dozen guaranteed places in the quarter-finals, one participant (vocaliser Nightbirde) later withdrew from the competition to focus on her battle with cancer, despite receiving a Golden Cablegram.[4] As a event of this, her place was converted into a Wildcard slot, with the procedure conducted via a special episode on the streaming service Peacock on the same night equally the commencement quarter-final. The process involved 5 participants picked from those who were eliminated during the deliberation phase, with viewers voting via Twitter over a three-solar day period on which of these would be their Wildcard in the third quarter-final.[13]
